Everything we do and everywhere we care for costs money. As a charity completely independent of government, we rely on income from many sources, including a £45m pa distribution from our £1.2bi investment portfolio. And the fact that every penny of our investment distribution goes back into our conservation work, makes having strong investment expertise here all the more important. We have also launched a £60m revolving credit facility that will deliver significant working capital benefits, and we’re now looking for a head of treasury and investments to manage the investment portfolio, optimise our use of working capital and help us further develop our treasury strategy.
What you'll be doing 
Join us and you will lead on our treasury and investment strategies. You will monitor the performance of our investment managers and support the Trust in determining a sustainable level of distribution from its investments. We will encourage and support you in exploring new treasury opportunities to further strengthen the Trust’s financial position, and in turn our conservation cause.
As a senior member of the finance team you will be our spokesperson on both treasury and investment matters. This will involve formal communications such as drafting the relevant disclosures in our statutory accounts, but also contributing articles to staff newsletters, internal presentations to a variety of audiences, and meetings with donor families.
We recognise that we have under invested in our treasury and investment function, and will be giving you the remit to build a team to realise its full potential for the Trust. The size and shape will be for the successful candidate to negotiate through proposing a compelling vision, with a sound return on investment. You’ll be joining a remarkably fast-paced finance department, and we will look for you to match, or exceed, our speed of innovation and delivery.
Who we're looking for
Along with your deep understanding of equity investment strategies and knowledge of debt products, you’ll also need:
To be a strong critical thinker who contributes innovative ideas
To be a clear and concise communicator, capable of both engaging audiences with complex information as well as providing constructive challenge to our investment managers
To be able to design the necessary controls around our investment, treasury, banking and card products
To have a passion for our cause and ensure that our approach to investments reflects our values.
