The corporate communications officer will work closely with the corporate comms manager and colleagues across the comms and engagement team. They will keep colleagues updated on the issues that matter and will support large scale projects which are vital to the success of the business.
The post holder will support the engagement of colleagues and provide internal communications expertise to a range of internal stakeholders. The post holder will also work closely with colleagues across the communications and engagement team to ensure our internal and external communications are integrated and effective.
Responsibilities
Work with the corporate communication manager and strategic communication planning partners to develop corporate communications and engagement strategies and plans for specific activity to colleagues and key stakeholders.
Contribute to the development and delivery of a UK-wide annual corporate communications plan.
Liaise with specialist teams across the communications and engagement team to share content, align activity and commission communication support as needed.
Help build a culture where two-way internal communication is seen as fundamental and integral to the success of the organisation and its staff
Support the corporate events manager with a range of internal events including the replacement for the annual Leadership conference, senior management team roadshows, chairs’ and presidents’ conference, communications and engagement quarterly all staff directorate meeting and other internal events as required.
Own and manage mailing lists of key volunteer groups (including leadership groups, volunteer council chairs and presidents).
Work with the corporate content editor to maximise the use of our social intranet.
Participate in the monthly corporate communication team meeting. Help develop a clear forward plan for internal communication and engagement activity and proactively share knowledge and best practice with peers.
Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of corporate communications and proactively identify areas for improvement.
Knowledge and experience
Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience
Strong understanding of internal and corporate communications
Excellent writing and presentation skills
Ability to develop and implement internal and corporate communication plans to support organisational priorities
Good working knowledge of digital media
Fully IT and digitally literate: competent user of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access, and the internet including social media
Confident and assertive
Proactive and enthusiastic
Able to work flexibly
Able to develop creative solutions to communication briefs
Ability to work under pressure
Good understanding of research methodologies desirable
Experience of internal and corporate communications and knowledge management within a large and/or complex organisation
