An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planning and Commercial Logistics Manager to join our team based in Cowley.

Due to business expansion, a new and integral role has been created for a Senior Planning and Commercial Logistics Manager to help support the CEO + Senior Management team.

The main purpose of the Senior Planning and Commercial Logistics Manager role is to assist with improving relationships with our customers, especially with our international and German speaking customers. Additionally, the ideal applicant will have the ability to facilitate the most effective logistics solutions in accordance to the agreed contract and to the satisfaction of our customers.

Other duties included within this role are as follows:

* Analyse process cost calculations and draw conclusions for improvement

* Work closely with the Finance Team and other key stakeholders of the business, establish budgets and analyse deviations during the year

* Take responsibility for Commercial Project Control

* Improve and establish key performance systems whilst closely monitoring any systems implemented

* Assume the temporary role of Senior Operations Managers during any period of absence

* Head and facilitate ongoing or one-off projects

* Liaise with shareholders, their representatives and project managers in all required matters, reporting back any issues that arise regarding status, needs, requirements and any other specific events

* In agreement with the CEO, take an active part in continuous improvement activities including actively seeking methods to improve processes, whilst assisting any of the Company's key representatives when in contact with our customers

* Prepare bi-lingual presentations and actively become involved in meetings when a German translator may be required, assisting with any solutions required

* Assist with fostering engagement in shop floor management and lean management

The successful Senior Planning and Commercial Logistics Manager will have:

* Experience in a similar role

* Ability to communicate with all nationalities fluently both in writing and verbally in English and German language as a minimum

* A willingness to travel within the UK and some European destinations and also stay overnight and work unsociable hours when required

* Ideally an academic education in either/or engineering or business & finance

* Have some experience in working within international logistic or production groups

* Experience within a fast-paced automotive industry is a distinct advantage

* A good working knowledge of Performance data and basics of controlling and process cost calculation would be useful

* Excellent IT skills used in business functions in particular all applications of Microsoft Office, ideally with some knowledge of SAP or similar software operating systems

Other preferable attributes include someone who has previously had experience or exposure to working for English, German or European companies, with the ability to manage employees and colleagues of different origin and functions. Candidates should therefore be familiar with language and cultures of both countries.
