Peugeot 406 Estate "S", 2 Litre Diesel, HDi 110 BHP, Manual, Silver with a 53 Plate.
This is a beautifully clean example of one of the most popular estate cars of all time. Its sleek appearance belies the fact that it is a tough, workhorse of a vehicle capable of carrying heavy loads with the utmost efficiency. It is a top of the range version with additional non-standard features such as bigger diameter wheels and wider tyres, it incorporates fog lights, height adjustable driver's seat, upmarket instrumentation, etc.
Great for family transportation as there is room for masses of luggage and the two thirds - one third rear seat divide creates versatile load carrying options. It has an overall cargo capacity of 430 litres/15.2 cubic feet with a pull-over screen.
The very clean and tidy interior offers grey and black upholstery, pale grey roof lining and black, grey and silver door trim. There is plush, charcoal grey carpeting in the passenger area and smart, mid grey carpeting in the load carrying area. It has been a strictly non smokers' car and unlike many estates, no dogs or other pets have been carried nor have there been any dirty or dusty loads. The very efficient air conditioning/heating system will keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
For your entertainment there is a quality JBL Clarion stereo radio and CD player with a 180 watt multifunction amplifier that is connected to ten high acoustic definition speakers (woofer, tweeter and mid-range) set in six speaker locations. The system offers bass boost, left to right balance adjustment and front to rear fader adjustment plus other settings.
For your safety the car is equipped with an Automatic Braking System (ABS) and Air Bags. And for your driving convenience there is Power Assisted Steering, height adjustable driving seat, height adjustable steering wheel, electric windows, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, slightly tinted windows, remote central locking and a Remote Control Satellite Navigation (Satnav) system (which I have never used!)
There are front and rear fog lights and, for extra load carrying options, there are roof rails ready for roof bars. This model is equipped with bright and shiny 16" alloy wheels and is fitted with the wider 205/55/16 tyres giving better traction, grippier steering and safer braking in all conditions. There are almost new tyres all round and the car is equipped with a full size spare wheel with a new tyre fitted. A full service history is included together with all invoices and the original Peugeot wallet containing the drivers Manual/Handbook, Warranty and Maintenance Record plus Peugeot Assistance Book. There is a spare pair of number plates and two ignition/door keys.
The Computerised Diagnostic System provides advice and warnings regarding mechanical performance or failure and also stores information and data that can be downloaded by a mechanic so the correct diagnosis can be speedily accessed and acted upon. The turbocharged+intercooler diesel engine will cruise all day long at up to 63 miles per gallon/4.5 litres per 100 kilometres and even with a full load it picks up beautifully and will happily accelerate uphill. The fuel tank holds 70 litres/ 15.4 gallons giving a driving range of up to 1272 kilometres/791 miles between fill-ups. The bodywork has a few blemishes, as one would expect of a car of this vintage, but it has been really well looked after and is in exceptional condition.
All repairs and maintenance have been carried out when recommended by my service garage therefore the car is in first class mechanical condition and has passed the MOT test first time, every time and all MOT test certificates are included. There are still a few months left on the current MOT but I am arranging for a test to be done and it will be sold with a new 12 month certificate. The car has covered over 150,000 miles but if you average this out it works out at around 11,000 miles a year, which is a relatively low annual mileage. My mechanic advises me that the engine is good for at least another 150,000 miles.
This has been the most reliable car I have ever owned and has never once let me down. It has only been used for personal, local driving and for three or four leisurely trips a year to our house in south-west France. It has never been used for trade or other purposes. I had a petrol version of this car before and that also was ultra reliable but I switched to this diesel version as the fuel consumption is so much more economical and it requires less frequent servicing thus providing much lower running costs. I have now decided that I don't need such a large car so I can now pass on the benefits of this most reliable estate to someone who has more need of it than I do.
