Altran is recruiting for a Stress engineer to work at their client's site in Bristol.
As a Mechanical Analyst with Altran, you will be fundamental to our ability to deliver to our customers and clients. Our customer expectations are high; as such we are looking for adaptive driven people to deliver on time to required quality.
You will possess creative problem-solving skills in a team environment and comfortable with communicating clearly and efficiently throughout varying levels of both the customer and Altran businesses. Due to the nature of the assignments undertaken by Altran you will work in an environment that promotes autonomy and initiative, requiring a flexible attitude. Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Represent mechanical analysis and stress in multi-disciplinary project teams
Perform mechanical analysis tasks of gas turbine modules or components, mostly based on FEA
Present and report progress and results, externally and internally
Maintain direct working relationships with clients and represent both your work and the work of team members during client meetings
Building FE models of gas turbines modules or components static, dynamic, thermo-mechanical, 2D or 3D
Performing post-processing and generate appropriate outputs
Carrying out various types of analysis based on the above e.g. static stress, fatigue, life assessments, optimisation
Present results and produce technical reports
Requirements:
Qualification and Education:
Educated to degree level or equivalent, for example; in an engineering or scientific discipline, mechanical engineering.
Chartered engineer or working towards chartership is desirable
Skills
Experience in, or understanding of, the following areas is essential:
Physics relating to structures, particularly rotating structures
Modelling of structures under multiple loads (e.g. rotational, aerodynamic)
Mechanical analysis FE toolsets
Engineering documentation
Gas turbine technologies
Experience in, or understanding of, the following areas would be advantageous:
Whole Engine Modelling or GFEM
Life analysis of rotating machinery
Thermo mechanical analysis and stress combustion
