Finance Business Partner
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and professional Finance Business Partner who is qualified ACA/ACCA/ACMA accountant or equivalent to join an international organisation with a strong talented team of professionals. Strong financial planning and analysis experience including for example acquisitions and product development is required as well as detailed knowledge of current applicable Accounting Standards including all relevant Charity reporting requirements as set out in the latest SORP
The Role:
To provide support to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis in delivering expert financial planning and analysis. To work with, and advise the Senior Management team, Boards, and the wider organisation, supporting decision making and strategy development across the organisation.
This position will form part of the Business Support team within Finance, reporting into the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis. The Business Support team will work closely together with each of the business units to become trusted financial advisers within the organisation, providing financial support, business analysis, management reporting and customer focussed financial information to the business.
This role has no direct reports and therefore carries with it considerable autonomy and requires close co-operation with other members of the Business Support team and other stakeholders across the organisation.
Occasional travel to meetings in London or other locations may be necessary from time to time.
Accountabilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
Develop financial analysis to determine the viability of existing or new activities with senior management utilising internal and external data, and preparing relevant commentary and presentation materials.
Improve outputs and support strategic decision making by working closely with other divisions in the organisation, providing financial analysis and insight. Proactively identify opportunities to add value through financial analysis.
Communicate at all levels of the business to develop effective collaborative relationships with people across many different parts of the organisation.
Involvement in all aspects of planning, budgeting and forecasting and analysis of the results.
Identify opportunities to integrate financial and non-financial data analysis for reporting, planning, product and business development working closely with other product development teams.
Identify needs and requirements, identify solutions, source and analyse data.
Develop performance analysis to facilitate delivery of annual target.
Business Support
Meet with budget holders on a regular basis to consider actual performance against budget and to revise the forecast if necessary.
Produce timely, accurate and customer focussed reports in support of budget holders, including explanations of key variances between actual and budget. Explain and resolve queries relating to revenue or costs.
Respond to ad-hoc requests from directorates, as well as providing specific financial assistance with functional departments, e.g. CAPEX appraisals, assisting with the setting of annual sales targets, the associated bonus schemes etc.
Attend and support Directorate meetings (if required).
Supporting the finance team
Produce required information and explanations in support of the production of the annual accounts and statutory audit.
Provide guidance to the Systems Accountant in respect of the likely impact of proposed systems developments.
Share knowledge, best practice and assist each member of the Business Support team within Finance with advice and guidance to help the Business Support team succeed.
Communicate regularly with the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis to ensure that they are aware of current issues within the organisation. Support initiatives of the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis and respond positively to requests for ad-hoc reports.
Management Reporting
Support the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis in the production of high quality Management Reporting on a monthly basis, including supporting analysis, commentary and explanations of the current results, and projected forecast for the full year.
Maintain an emphasis on continual development of the management reporting including the quality and presentation of information.
Annual Budget
Work with all members of the Business Support team to develop an annual budget for the organisation that furthers its long term strategic plans.
Ad-hoc reporting
Work with all members of the Finance team to produce customer focussed reporting and respond to queries from the wider organisation.
Assist with any other tasks and projects that impact the Finance department.
Knowledge and skills required
Qualified ACA/ACCA/ACMA accountant or equivalent.
Excellent communication skills to support and influence stake holders across the organisation.
Strong financial planning and analysis experience including for example acquisitions and product development.
Detailed knowledge of current applicable Accounting Standards including all relevant Charity reporting requirements as set out in the latest SORP.
Make informed judgments regarding the accounting treatment of income and expenditure.
Ability to interpret accounting reports, highlight issues, resolve and / or explain any variances or unusual items to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis at review meetings.
Show confidence in dealing with external parties e.g. auditors, members, honorary officers etc.
Experience of using computerised accounting systems including ideally; Sun Accounts and Q&A 10.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, to pivot table level.
An analytical approach with excellent attention to detail.
Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
