My client are a specialist company who specialise in marine construction who are currently looking for a quantity surveyor to support, Business Unit Managers, and Project Managers with contractual and administrative matters relating to projects.
The quantity surveyor will be responsible for providing commercial and contractual support to the Project Managers whilst presenting financial reporting to senior management.
Location - Fareham
Salary - uo to £40k plus a car allowance
The key roles and responsibilities of the quantity surveyor will be -
Procuring and managing sub-contractors.
Reviewing Tender and handover files after Contract award, informing the Contract Support Engineer of any potential contractual areas of concern and / or informing the project team accordingly.
As and when / if required assisting the Project Manager and Project Controllers with the preparation of the baseline project BCR.
As and when / if required assisting the Project Manager and Project Controllers with the preparation of the project BCR's throughout the course of a project - specifically advising on potential revenues issues (additional works, claims, counter claims, etc.).
Liaising with the Project Manager during Contract execution and advising / assisting with aspects of contractual administration, including record keeping, monitoring variations, valuing variations / additional work, notice of claims, preparation and updating of Programs etc.
Attending site meetings to monitor and assist the Project Manager with any commercial issues.
In consultation with Project Managers, prepare and submit monthly valuations and forecasts, including attending valuation meetings as necessary.
Preparation of monthly valuations for term maintenance contracts, including calculation of fuel and VOP indices.
Assisting the Contract Support Engineer with Claims preparation and submission.
Monitor the Debtors Schedule with the Accounts Department and chasing overdue payments.
As and when requested deputise for the Contract Support Engineer.
Keep an updated record of all Marine Licenses.
Ad Hoc Invoicing
Contract support for Cofra including monthly catch up meeting and advising on contracts.
Taking care of car insurance aspects including report and follow up of car accidents, organisation of breakdown cover and maintaining the insurance database.
Act as the main point of contact for Smaller Capital Projects.
Other duties include: attending weekly site meetings to offer contractual support to PM's.
The ideal candidate for the role of the quantity surveyor will have -
Marine experience, preferably including some marine civil engineering.
Commercial and contractual awareness.
Computer literate.
Programming skills
Basic knowledge of company insurances
Self-Motivation.
Ability to forecast.
Knowledge of invoicing.
Knowledge of Charters.
Site based project experience.
Relevant degree.
