In this role you will be part of a team that is exploring current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for automation. You will work with the internal manufacturing team, as well as with suppliers and partners to design, specify and develop new production solutions.
You will understand discrete and end-to-end production processes - plus the environment in which they operate. At the same time, you appreciate the challenges involved in finding new ways to operate, applying a creative streak to look at problems from different perspectives.
This is a 6 month contract paying £42-50k + 10% Bonus
You will need to work with equipment manufacturers and materials suppliers to understand their offering and seek areas for adaptation and improvement. In some instances you will bring examples and solutions from different industries that can challenge current thinking.
You need to be comfortable using process simulation and design software - and be able to work across the organisation to find the right data and join the logical dots. From there, you are able to convert insights into accurate and reliable findings or clearly articulated options.
Ideally, you will have worked in complex manufacturing environments with experience from engineering and equipment related projects. You will be confident working against the grain at times, and be confident in presenting your findings and proposals to diverse audiences.
You will be analytical, ordered and inquisitive. Large amounts of information won't phase you and you'll be able to deconstruct complex situations and processes down to something that others can start to make sense of - both with the use of software tools and other methods.
At the same time, you won't be fixated on "process for process sake". You will be more interested in the "so what" when it comes to analysing processes and potential solutions. You will also be able to adapt the level of detail, visual format and the method of presentation according to the nature of the activity and audience - from operational to managerial.
This is a 6 month contract.
