Trainee Development Underwriter

Location: Colchester, Essex

£26,000 - £28,000

Due to further growth this is an excellent opportunity for a confident, outgoing Underwriter who can split their time between underwriting and developing business.

You will already have an Insurance background but that can either be with an Insurer or with a Broker, as training can be provided.

You will be working with a wide range of Brokers, including some of the largest in the UK, so you will have excellent relationship management skills and the credibility to work at this level.

This really is a great opportunity to develop your experience, market knowledge and profile.

Key responsibilities include:

Develop close, effective relationships with your Broker panel, visiting them regularly

Maintain profitability of the account by making sound underwriting decisions, yet challenging convention, writing non-standard business

Preparing quotes and being the key Underwriting referral point for your panel

Maximise retention and handle mid-term adjustments on existing business

Negotiate, both internally and externally, including with your Broker contacts

Grow the business by developing and maintaining strong working relationships, creating excitement around the appetite for business

Price / Salary: £26000 - £28000/annum
