Web Application Support Analyst
Description
Change Recruitment are partnered with our global asset management client based in their Edinburgh offices. Their global teams perform a wide variety of activities from maintaining system stability to growing the features and functionality of our state-of the-art trading and asset management platform
The Web Applications Support team is responsible for monitoring, supporting and enhancing internal and public web sites. The team works with complex web application architectures, data flows, messaging systems and content management systems in a Unix/Linux environment.
Collaborating with skilled professionals across the globe and managing a broad range of technologies and applications, the Web Applications Support team delivers service quality and excellence through teamwork, innovating and automating operational processes.
Role Responsibility
· Problem Determination/Resolution: Supporting and troubleshooting both batch processing and web applications
· Able to handle multiple issues from multiple users and prioritize in terms of criticality, which to focus and resolve first. Also, being able to manage and cope with critical outage scenarios, whether planned (Disaster Recovery Tests) or unplanned.
· Engage in clear and concise communications both verbally and in writing. Effectively interacts on command bridges and calls to ensure all global team members are constantly informed
· Analyze, debug and resolve complex SQL, ETL workflows and shell scripts.
· Active monitoring, remediation and escalation of issues for the web platform that may impact the high availability of internal and public websites.
· Innovate, develop and enhance internally developed scripts and tools that enables the team and our web platform to become more scalable and operationally efficient.
Essential
· Computer Science degreee, Business Information Systems, Technology, Engineering or similar.
· Strong Written and Verbal Skills.
· Candidates must have a strong interest and aptitude for quickly learning new technologies and proprietary systems as required.
Desirable Technical Skills:
Any combination of the below will be considered relevant
· Programming/Scripting: Python, Shell
· Usage of code management software: Git, JIRA
· Operating Systems: Good understanding of Unix/Linux environments
· Database Technologies: PL/SQL, Informatica ETL, Apache Cassandra
· Network & Security: Understanding of DMZ, HTTP protocol, encryption methods, load balancers (F5 LTM/GTM), Splunk
Application Support: JBOSS, Tomcat, Apache, Nginx, CMS
Price / Salary: £35000 - £40000/annum
