The Company

First People Solutions Ltd are currently engaging with a national design & build contractor in order to source a Design Manager to be located in Glasgow.

Our client has been operating for over 50 years and are involved in a variety of buildings projects including purpose-built cluster flats and studios, to refurbishment projects and mixed-use schemes.

Due to continuous growth, the client has asked FPS to source a Design Manager who is willing to travel to site 1/2 times per week and may include overnight stays.

The Job

The Design Manager position will encompass the following responsibilities:

* To attend internal and external meetings including chairing and accurately minute as necessary ensuring distribution to relevant parties.
* To mentor assistant design manager.
* Review design drawings in accordance with Building Regulations.
* Review design proposals from internal and external consultants ensuring most competitive and effective solution arrived at.
* Support Procurement Department in evaluation of alternative design solutions offered by subcontractors.
* Research and develop new products for alternative forms of construction.
* Monitor Health & Safety issues.
* Occasionally advise on Estimating schemes.
* Continue professional development.

The Candidate

As a Design Manager, the client is looking for candidates with:

* Requiring education/ qualification to a level of NVQ 5/ Professional
* qualifications or equivalent qualifications.
* Good knowledge of Building Regulations.
* Basic knowledge of AutoCAD design software course and Adobe Acrobat.
* Strong time management and communication skills.
* Good knowledge of Word and Excel.
