Cathedral Appointments are currently searching for an experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer for a client based in Newton Abbot, Devon. The client is a market leader in the manufacturing of precision metal parts and they require an Operations Manager to lead one of the manufacturing departments.
The Operations Manager will be tasked with ensuring that production programmes are scheduled and met to the highest possible quality as well as ensuring the department meets its on time delivery and costing plans. Additionally, the Ops Manager will also plan and lead all Health, Safety Quality and productivity improvements.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead, motivate and coach a cross functional team
Ensure all HSE standards are met and maintained, identifying risk and implementing improvements where required
Work alongside the team to ensure production programmes meet customer demands
Monitor production performance, analyse results and develop and implement improvement plans
Lead all area continuous improvement activities
Monitor and report on the financial performance of each team
Accountable for the team overall P&L and budget management
Responsible for the smooth introduction of new products and new technology
Required Skills and Experience:
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field
Previous experience working in the manufacturing sector (preferably metals)
Proven experience in operations management is essential
Excellent communication & people management skills
The ability to prioritise and meet conflicting demands
Good commercial awareness
Strong understanding of CI and lean management techniques
Good knowledge of H&S
