Job Title: Scientist/Technologist

Salary between 35K - 40K
Job Title: Scientist/Technologist Location: Various
Job Purpose: To design, plan, deliver and evaluate experimental technology (in particular carbon fibre + materials) projects to support delivery of market/segment/operational technology objectives for new polymers, new processes and optimisation of existing products and processes
Principal Accountabilities:
Supports technical feasibility assessments on portfolio/operations projects
Designs, plans, delivers and evaluates experimental materials projects to deliver new technical solutions in support of technical objectives for strategic/tactical projects
Designs, plan, delivers and evaluates experimental materials projects in support of plant trial projects to continually improve product quality and process capability
Co-ordinates and interprets data using a range of in-house and external analytical services to evaluate polymer/material properties
Evaluates, interprets and communicates results of experimental chemistry/technology projects and recommends future work direction in support of project objectives
Supports Technology work-stream lead on portfolio projects
Designs and codifies laboratory experimental procedures to promote safe working practices in line with all relevant internal and external regulations
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed to Fulfill the Role:
Strong analytical, communication, delivery and team-working skills
Carbon fibre / Composites experience
Thermoplastics + thermoset manufacturing
Internal and External Relationships:
Internal: Technology teams at all levels, Operations, IP
External: Analytical experts, suppliers, customers to provide expert advice
Special Features (Optional):
Line management responsibility for several Technicians/individual contributor
Responsible for one or two projects at any time
Typically laboratory based, will participate in trials at scale-up facilities and full scale manufacturing
Qualifications Required & Background:-
Graduate entry level - degree or higher in relevant chemistry/material science or relevant scientific discipline.
Automotive or Aerospace background with composites experience
Minimum of 2 years work experience
Price / Salary: £35000 - £40000/annum
