Overall purpose of role

Collaborate with development teams to create automated continuous integration & delivery pipelines
Collaborate with operational teams to ensure production criteria are met by the automated process.
Manage & maintain tools that support the continuous integration & deployment model agreed by development and operational teams.
Support the evaluation and implementation of new tools and collaborate with development & operational teams to ensure fit for purpose.
To build knowledge of how technical strategies are defined to provide business solutions.

Key Accountabilities

Develop & implement automated continuous integration & delivery pipeline solutions
Collaborate and clearly communicate with application developers and environment specialists to build technical solutions.
Collaborate with all stakeholders on a project from highly technical to non-technical resources to ensure a common level of understanding of the automated process
Keep up-skilled on new tools, processes and technical developments in order to drive continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.
Support tools evaluation to ensure most effective toolset is being utilised to meet requirements
Produce well-structured documentation and education relating to the automated processes for the development and operational teams.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership

Promote and drive stewardship and application best practices within the team
Strong knowledge of emerging software development methods, tools and standards and actively keep this knowledge current.
Champion innovation by recognising newly arising opportunities for improving customer satisfaction, achieving technical excellence and improving the delivery of a software product.
Identify own and others development needs and seek opportunities to address these needs through guidance, coaching and formal training.
Hands on technical capability across all key skills
Ability to lead and direct a team at a technical level
Development of strong relationships with both key technical leads and project stakeholders
Actively support and drive the strategy for the function, to meet the internal and external customer demand.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

Manage business requirements to understand how system requirements fit within overall business solution. Challenge any requirements that are incomplete or do not provide sufficient clarity to support effective software development.
Manage requirements to understand how both functional and non-functional aspects (e.g. capacity, availability, response times, etc.) need to be met.
Manage requirements to understand how they will be tested following production of solution.
Analysis and understanding of customer needs and priorities to provide quality services.
Extensive experience in creative problem solving and successfully executing tasks.
Strong experience in explaining, advocating and expressing facts and ideas in a variety of settings orally, in presentations and in writing.
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

Comprehensive knowledge and proven development capability in all the below:

Openshift v3 architecture
Docker
Programming and scripting languages Groovy, yaml, Shell, Python
Jenkins in pipelines and integration of standard CI tools e.g. sonarqube, appdynamics, logging solutions, DAST, SAST

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

Internet and middleware technologies, Apache HTTP, JBoss, Java, MQ, networks
AWS
Chef
Atlassian suite Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence
