This busy London Borough puts tackling homelessness at the heart of what it does is now looking for a Housing Options Officer for a 6-month temporary contract to join the team.

This role is deemed 'Inside IR35'.

About you

Working in a London Borough requires that you work quickly and efficiently to make sure that a backlog does not build up, therefore experience working in a busy borough would be preferred but not essential. A thorough understanding of case law and legislation including the Homeless Reduction Act is key to help the manager implement a strategy to help cope with the predicted influx of eligible candidates. Customer service plays a central role in the council's ideology and thus you must demonstrate previous experience offering first-rate guidance and advice.

About the role

* Manage a large caseload of current cases from start through to completion
* Exhibit a strong working knowledge of Housing law including, but not exclusively, the Housing Act 1996 & Homelessness Act 2002
* Make section 184 decisions under Housing Act 1996 Part VI & VII
* Complete backlog of existing cases before moving on current ones
* Manage Allocations process successfully bring people of the register into suitable accommodation
* Thorough understanding of the Homeless Reduction Act
* 37 hour week with flexible working hours
* No scope to work from home
