La Manga is situated in south east Spain in the province of Murcia on the Costa Calida.

It is a strip of land 22 kms long nestled between the Mediterranean Sea on one side and the Mar Menor (the Little Sea) on the other.

The Mar Menor is a vast non-tidal lake of warm salt water, safe and therapeutic and ideal for children and the numerous water sports available.

In addition, the area is well-known for its golf courses and there are many within a one hour drive.

For those that wish it, during the summer months there is plenty of nightlife, with many restaurants and bars available, and all along the La Manga strip there are funfairs for all ages open in the evenings.

Along the coast of the Costa Calida there are many unspoiled seaside resorts with lovely beaches bordering the Mar Menor.

In the main summer months at a lovely beach near the Tomas Maestre Marina near the apartment, there are huge sea inflatables, great for the kids, and you!

There is a national park at the salt lakes at the top of the Mar Menor, a beautiful unspoilt place full of bird life.

The nearest main town is Cartagena, offering modern shops and a Carrefour hypermarket, but also boasting many historical sights.

There are various boat trips leaving from the Tomas Maestre Marina daily. They will take you around the coast of the Mar Menor allowing you to see the various villages en route.

There is also a sea bus service across the Mar Menor from the Marina.

Beautiful swimming pool and children’s pool (open approx. May to October, although may open at Easter), paddle tennis court, beaches (5 minutes walk), supermarket (3 minutes walk), water sports hire centre/sailing club, restaurants, bars, banks, pharmacy, Saturday market, Tomas Maestre marina - all within 15 minutes walk of the apartment.

There is a cycle path running alongside the road which stretches the entire length of the La Manga strip, so you can take in the sights at your own pace stopping at the beaches, bars, shops and restaurants along the way.

The extremely popular Sunday market in Cabo de Palos, at the beginning of the strip, where you can buy everything including fashion for all, locally produced foods and gifts to take home.

A 20 minute drive away is the stunning, rustic beauty of Calblanque National Park. 13 km of unspoilt coastline where the turquoise waters meet the golden sand and ancient alpine forest. It boasts numerous walking and cycling trails with spectacular views, and is also an ideal spot for relaxing on the beach soaking up its awesome surrounds (take your own food and drink).

It is close to Cartagena historical attraction, watersports park near Alicante, many beautiful beaches and mountain walks.

There are several water sports teaching centres along the strip, offering courses in sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, canoeing, diving, water skiing, jet-ski, snorkelling etc.

Scuba diving has become more popular in this area and there are schools in La Manga and Cabo de Palos which organise daily trips by boat and offer equipment to rent for newcomers.

Boat charter, sea fishing, tennis clubs, squash, roller skating and go karts are all close. There is a regular sea bus service across the Mar Menor.

Mud bathing in the therapeutic seas is a must - very popular!
