We are looking for a Workshop Technician for a 6 month contract at a London University. Interested? Keep reading!
Working as a member of an integrated team in a busy environment, this technical role will involve assisting staff and students with project based activities in the designated workshops. You will also be assisting with maintenance and day-to-day operational tasks, as well as taking an active role in the operation and development of the new CNC facilities.
Workshop Technician Requirements:
* To assist the Senior Technician in the co-ordination of resources and equipment in relation to the modelling design resources stores to ensure its effective usage
* To assist the Senior Technician in the effective operation and management of the customer facing service providing model making assets/resources to authorised users
* To assist with documentation, record keeping and any administrative duties in relation to resource asset management in the tool stores
* Provide appropriate technical support to staff, students and other key customers in relation to the technical design, development and construction of physical prototypes for teaching, research and enterprise activities
* Provide expert advice related to the procurement, use and implementation of the soft modelling resources and/or associated equipment in the designated modelling design workshops
* Undertake routine maintenance of equipment in the modelling design workshops as directed through the appropriate line management structure
Workshop Technician Responsibilities:
* A HND (or equivalent qualification) in a Modelling Design related discipline
* Able to demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge of soft modelling/engineering design principles as these relate to the design, development, fabrication, or the assembly of complex parts and/or multi-component systems
* Proven experience in the creation/manufacture of functional physical prototypes using both additive and subtractive manufacturing methods/technologies
* To be able to demonstrate good customer service skills and a commitment to the provision of a quality service to staff, students, the wider University community and external stakeholders
